St. Albans Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash in Queens Village

A St. Albans man was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens Village Saturday.

Michael Roach, 31, succumbed to his injuries after crashing his 2012 BMW motorcycle on the Cross Island Parkway at about 4:30 a.m., police said.

He was driving the bike southbound on the parkway, near 109th Avenue, at a high speed when he lost control, according to police.

Responding officers found Roach, of Dunkirk Drive, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma about the head and body. EMS rushed him to Long Island Jewish Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.

A teenager was shot inside Jamaica’s Rufus King Park on Friday morning, and the NYPD is searching for two suspects who remain at large.

Police from the 103rd Precinct responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress near the park entrance at Jamaica Avenue and 150th Street at 10:20 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer found a 14-year-old boy sitting on a bench inside the park with a gunshot wound to his right thigh, an NYPD spokeswoman said. EMS responded to the scene and rushed the wounded boy to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Glen Oaks, where he was listed in stable condition.
