A developer filed plans with the Dept. of Buildings Friday to build a five-story, mixed-use building in Astoria.

The building, which would go up at 22-02 Astoria Blvd., would include 16 apartments and commercial space on the first floor.

The plans show that the first floor would have 940 square feet of retail space. The upper floors would each have four units.

The building would have a total floor area of 12,500 square feet.

Under the proposal there would also be an eight car parking garage on the first floor, a laundry room and fitness center in the cellar, and a recreation area on the rooftop.

The building would replace a one-story building, the long-time home of the Furniture Market. Demolition permits have yet to be filed.

The developer is listed as Herman Carolini with a business name of Newtown 2 LLC.
