A Planet Fitness gym is coming to Forest Hills in a 10-story building that is going up near MacDonald Park.
The gym will occupy the first floor and cellar of the 142,500-square-foot building currently under construction at 107-02 Queens Blvd.
Queens Community Board 6 voted to approve the special permit for the fitness center last week.
The mixed-use building, owned by De Boulevard LLC, will also house 74 apartments, 46 enclosed parking spaces and two outdoor terraces when complete. The first floor will feature more than 11,000 square feet of commercial space.
The development company RJ Capital Holdings is behind the 120-foot-tall building. Its website states that the building is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The company is also behind a planned 16-story building at 98-81 Queens Blvd. in Rego Park that would require the demolition of a popular synagogue and diner with beloved architectural details.
RJ Capital Holdings filed an application for the Rego Park building in June, however the plan will have to go through the city’s land use review process and be approved by city officials before construction can begin.
Planet Fitness has other locations in Queens including gyms in Long Island City, Jamaica, Jackson Heights, Ridgewood, Howard Beach and Astoria.
