A man wearing a “Red Sox” hat walked up to 74-year-old Queensbridge resident earlier this month and sucker-punched him in the face.
The victim was standing on the corner of 12th Street and 40th Avenue at around 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 12 when the suspect approached him and unexpectedly punched him.
The senior, who was walking to his apartment at the NYCHA Queensbridge Housing development, was knocked off his feet and fell to the ground. The victim sustained a broken right wrist and laceration to his lip. He was treated at NYC Health & Hospitals/Mt. Sinai.
The suspect, according to the NY Daily News, allegedly screamed “Where’s my sneakers?” prior to the punch–in what was a bizarre attack.
Police describe the suspect as being in his 30s, standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie sweater, brown jacket, brown pants, dark sneakers, a baseball hat and facial hair.
