Feb. 17, 2021 By Michael Dorgan

A man broke into a 64-year-old woman’s apartment in Elmhurst early Monday–while the victim was sleeping–as part of a burglary attempt.

The suspect entered the apartment, located in the vicinity of Elmhurst Avenue and Broadway, through an unlocked bathroom window at around 4:40 a.m., according to police.

Once inside, the man’s movements woke the woman who screamed – causing him to flee the scene. The suspect escaped out the same bathroom window that he got in through, police said.

The woman was not injured and there was no property stolen, police said.

Police released CCTV footage of the suspect taken during the break-in that was obtained from a nearby surveillance camera.

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Ridgewood mother and daughter arrested for attacking woman over parking spot: NYPD

A Ridgewood mother and daughter were arrested Monday after they ambushed a young Black woman who tried to park her car in a spot in front of their apartment building that they frequently cordon off with garbage cans and traffic cones.

A family friend was standing at the northeast corner of Onderdonk Avenue and Putnam Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. when the 21-year-old Jada McPherson tried to park her car in the spot. The man placed a garbage can in her way. She drove off and circled the block multiple times. She tried to pull into the same spot one more time, but the man tried to stop her again. McPherson got out of her car to confront him, and an argument ensued.
