April 1, 2021 By Ryan Songalia

Police are looking for a man wanted for an attempted rape that took place in Flushing almost four years ago.

The suspect allegedly knocked a woman to the ground, groped her breasts and attempted to rape her on 19th Avenue–near 150th Street–at around 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

The victim had just disembarked from a Q15 bus and was walking along 19th Avenue prior to the attack. Her attacker had allegedly been on the same bus and followed her.

The suspect then caught up to her and attacked her outside 150-42 19 Ave. and then left the scene on foot, while the victim, who was 28 at the time, fled to her home for safety.

She called 911 but didn’t seek medical treatment.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect after the victim sat with an artist following a recent case review.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, and was between 25 and 30 years old at the time of the incident. He is between 5 feet 7 and 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighed approximately 160 pounds at the time of the attack.

He was said to be wearing a dark T-shirt and long, red shorts when he carried out the attack. The sketch shows him having hair parted in the front.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
