A 39-year-old woman walking with a shopping cart was struck and killed by an SUV in Elmhurst Friday afternoon.

Police said the unidentified woman had been trying to cross 91st Place at 43rd Avenue at around 1:15 p.m. when she was hit by a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 33-year-old man.

The woman had been pulling a small shopping cart across the crosswalk, the NY Daily News reported.

“I saw a lot of blood,” Dulce Santos, a worker at nearby Mi Otra Casa Restaurant, told the News. “The cart was under the car.”

Emergency medical responders took the woman who had suffered injuries to her head and body to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. As of Sunday afternoon, her identity had not yet been publicly released.

The Chevrolet driver remained on scene. Police said Friday evening that no arrests had immediately been made and the investigation was ongoing. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the woman’s death.

A woman who works at a pharmacy nearby told the News that the intersection is notorious in the neighborhood.

Several pedestrians and cyclists have been injured in crashes at the intersection over the past year, according to NYC Crash Mapper, which uses data compiled and mapped by safety advocates Chekpeds.

Ridgewood mother and daughter arrested for attacking woman over parking spot: NYPD

A Ridgewood mother and daughter were arrested Monday after they ambushed a young Black woman who tried to park her car in a spot in front of their apartment building that they frequently cordon off with garbage cans and traffic cones.

A family friend was standing at the northeast corner of Onderdonk Avenue and Putnam Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. when the 21-year-old Jada McPherson tried to park her car in the spot. The man placed a garbage can in her way. She drove off and circled the block multiple times. She tried to pull into the same spot one more time, but the man tried to stop her again. McPherson got out of her car to confront him, and an argument ensued.
