A deli is opening on Queens Boulevard in the heart of Sunnyside that will be open 24 hours a day.
Norberto Sanchez, along with a business partner, will be opening Taste Buds, located at 45-05 Queens Blvd., in the middle of June that will offer a range of quick hot food items, cold sandwiches, salads and beers.
The establishment will be their third deli, with the other two in Astoria. They operate Georges Deli, located at 36-19 28th Ave., and Astoria Deli Grocery, located at 36-20 Astoria Blvd.
There will be no seats inside. The deli will offer free delivery on orders valued at $8 or more to any location in Sunnyside.
The duo, who are originally from Mexico, have taken over two adjoining spaces that were previously occupied by Queens Boulevard Nails and the Allstate Insurance agency.
The pair, both residents of Astoria, have demolished the dividing wall to create one 1,500 square foot space.
A new green-colored awning has been erected. They have torn down the sun-faded pink awning associated with the nail salon along with the old Allstate sign.
Sanchez, 53, said there is demand for hot food plates and sandwiches along the busy strip.
The deli will serve omelets, breakfast wraps and pancakes in the morning while offering a range of club sandwiches and salads for customers to choose from for lunch and dinner.
They will also offer burgers, fries and chicken wings throughout the day.
The menu will be similar to what they offer in Astoria.
The store will also sell candy, ice cream and a range of canned and bottled beers.
