Police responded to a 911 call of an assault taking place near Corona’s Finest Grocery Corp., located at 57-18 108th St., at around 5:10 p.m.

Upon arrival, police found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head lying unconscious and unresponsive on the sidewalk.

EMS responded and transported the victim to Elmhurst General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police have a suspect in the case, who allegedly fled northbound on 108th Street after the shooting. He is described as a Hispanic male who was wearing a red hoody and black pants.

The victim’s name has yet to be released, pending family notification. Police said he was a resident of Queens and a member of a gang.
