May 26, 2020 By Allie Griffin

Police are looking for two teenagers who allegedly robbed an Astoria deli and punched a store clerk on the way out.

The pair were inside the deli, located at 33-03 Broadway, on Sunday at around 5:40 p.m. when they tried to leave without paying for a number of items, police said.

A 52-year-old clerk attempted to stop the teens from shoplifting, when one of the suspects punched the worker in the face. The pair fled the store, running north on 33rd Street, police said. The victim suffered minor injuries.

The suspects are believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, according to the NYPD.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
