The police are looking for a man who gained access to a junior high school in Briarwood last Wednesday and allegedly robbed an 11-year-old student inside the bathroom at knifepoint.

The suspect allegedly walked inside Robert A. Van Wyck Junior High School, located at 85-05 144 St., at around 2:30 p.m. and entered the restroom. He approached a boy inside the bathroom and pointed a knife at the child’s chest and demanded money.

The student told the suspect that he didn’t have any money, according to police. The knife-wielding thief then grabbed the boy’s water bottle and fled the school. The boy was not injured.

About 5 minutes later, the suspect got into an argument with a 51-year-old man at the corner of 85th Road and 149th Street. He then pulled out his knife and began to lunge at the victim’s throat—although he failed to make contact. The individual continued slashing at the victim multiple times, cutting his jacket but not his arm.

The suspect then threw a water bottle at the man and then fled the location. The victim was not injured.

Police released an image of the suspect that was obtained from a deli located at 84-77 Parsons Blvd. Officers with the 107th Precinct also released a police sketch depicting the individual.

The suspect is believed to be a teenager and has been described as being Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and around 110 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket and black pants.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
