A man who survived being shot eight times during a shooting last year was fatally gunned down in South Ozone Park Monday night.

Tyrek Townsend, 37, was shot once in the torso just after 8 p.m. Monday at the corner of 113th Avenue and Linden Boulevard, according to police.

Police responded to a 911 call and discovered him on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The NYPD did not provide any further details pertaining to the incident and there have been no arrests.

Sources say that a male suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a black Nissan.

Townsend, who is from Coney Island, had a history of drug arrests and was almost killed during a shooting near his home in August 2020 when he was hit eight times, according to published reports. Three other victims were shot – one fatally – during that incident.

It is unclear if last year’s shooting played a role in Townsend’s slaying last night.
