A popular U.S.-based bakery chain has opened a new café on Jackson Avenue in Long Island City.

Paris Baguette, a global franchise that serves cakes, pastries, sandwiches and coffee, opened Friday at 27-35 Jackson Ave.

The bakery has more than 4,000 retail stores worldwide, including nearly 100 in the U.S.

The company has moved into a ground floor space inside a five-story office building that has recently undergone extensive renovations. The building was built in 1965 and five adjoining ground floor spaces have been transformed into expansive commercial units with high windows.

Paris Baguette is the first business to open in the new row of commercial units, taking up an 1,800 square-foot space.

The new store marks the company’s first location in Long Island City and its 13th in Queens. The company also has bakeries in Astoria, Sunnyside, Flushing, Bayside, Auburndale, Rego Park, Forest Hills and Little Neck.

Bryan Freund, Senior District Manager for Paris Baguette, said that the operators are thrilled to open in Long Island City.

“The time is here to grab a cup of coffee and celebrate all of life’s moments, big or small, with our expertly baked goods,” Freund said.

The company chose to open on Jackson Avenue because of its high foot traffic and the location’s proximity to the Queens Plaza subway station, a company spokesperson told the Queens Post in September.

The new bakery seats around 40 people and offers the same menu as its other eateries including large cakes, cake slices, cookies and yogurts. The bakery also serves a wide range of baked breads and pastries as well as salads and gourmet sandwiches.

All of the company’s food items are made fresh in-store each day. Customers can see the items being prepared inside the bakery, located at the rear of the store, through high windows placed behind the counter. The company also serves hot and cold coffees.

A mural containing some local landmarks — including a gantry at Gantry Plaza State Park and the MoMA PS1 art institution — has been put up on a wall inside the store.

The company is running promotions to celebrate the store opening with first-time customers receiving a coupon for a free coffee or pastry on their next visit. Customers who spend $30 or more will receive a free gift from the company.

Opening hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Sundays.
