Moped-Driving Duo Swipe Woman’s Prada Purse and Cash in Rego Park: NYPD

A pair of masked men on a moped allegedly swiped a woman’s Prada purse—as well as cash—in Rego Park shortly after midnight Saturday morning.

The moped-driving duo sped up to the 31-year-old woman as she walked down Queens Boulevard near 63rd Avenue at around 12:05 a.m. They allegedly grabbed her purse — valued at $500 — and snatched $200 cash out of her hand as they passed her on the electric bike, police said.

The purse contained credit cards.

The men, who were wearing black balaclavas over their heads, sped off northwest on Queens Boulevard.

They were caught on surveillance cameras attempting to use one of the woman’s credit cards at a store in Brooklyn about an hour-and-half later, police said.

The police said the first suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket, black gloves and a black balaclava and the second suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket and black balaclava.

The woman was not injured, according to police.

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are looking for three burglars who broke into homes in Malba and Murray Hill in March, making off with cash and property.

In the first incident, two of the suspects struck during the afternoon of Thursday, Mar. 7, breaking through the front door of a private residence in the vicinity of 144th Street and 15th Road near the GU Harvey Playground alongside the Whitestone Expressway at around 2 p.m. Once inside, the two men stole $12,000 worth of cash, jewelry and other personal items before running off through the front door in an unknown direction.
