An affordable housing lottery has opened for 145 units in a new building on the Halletts Point peninsula in Astoria – with rent starting at $665 per month.
The apartments are located in a new 14-story building called Halletts Point 7, located at 3-3 27th Ave.
All of the units in the building are classified as affordable.
The units are a mix of studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The units are available to households earning income levels of 40 and 60 percent of the area median income (AMI) via the lottery – or those with an eligible income range of between $25,372 and $86,460.
All units come with large windows and energy-efficient appliances and light fixtures. All residents will have access to a tenant lounge, a community room, fitness room and a shared laundry room.
There are 36 studios listed in total at Hallets Point 7 that are available to households of between one and two people.
Sixteen studios are available at $665 a month for households who make between $25,372 and $42,720 combined annually, while there are 20 studios available at $1,066 per month for households who make between $39,120 and $64,080.
There are also 36 one-bedroom apartments listed at the new development which are available to households of between one and three people.
There are 16 one-bedroom apartments going for $841 per month with 20 going for $1,342. Income requirements begin at $31,715 and top off at 72,060 for a household of three.
The largest share of units on offer are for two-bedroom units with a total of 73 units on offer. The units are available to households of between two to five people.
There are 32 two-bedroom units going for $1,000 a month and 41 units on offer for $1,601 a month. Income requirements begin at 38,058 and can go up to $86,460.
Rent includes gas for heating while tenants are responsible for paying for electricity.
Preference will be given to applicants who are already New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) residents or live within the Queens Community Board 1 district. Additional preference will be given to those with mobility, vision, or hearing impairments.
