Robber Shot 43-Year-Old and Stole His Backpack in Corona: NYPD

A robber shot a 43-year-old man in Corona Sunday and took off with the man’s backpack.

The unidentified perpetrator approached the victim from behind at about 3:50 p.m. near Horace Harding Expressway and Calloway Street, police said.

He then knocked the man to the ground and shot him once in the abdomen, before snatching the man’s backpack. The backpack contained clothing and food, police said.

The NYPD described the suspect as a dark-skinned man who was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a light-colored mask, a black shirt, dark plants and dark sneakers.

The police did not have information on the condition of the victim.
