More than 100 eateries to participate in first-ever ‘Eats in Queens Restaurant Month’

More than 150 restaurants across the ‘The World’s Borough’ will participate in the first-ever ‘Eats in Queens Restaurant Month’ and help raise funds to benefit food relief and restaurants throughout Queens

Starting March 1, diners from the borough and beyond will have a chance to experience diverse, delicious cuisines with discounts from the participating eateries.

‘Eats in Queens Restaurant Month’ is organized by Queens Together, the only nonprofit created to connect Queens restaurants and food businesses with resources, promotion and community. 

“We saw an opportunity to promote the vibrant Queens culinary scene, raise funds for vital food relief and reward donors”, said Jonathan Forgash, executive director of Queens Together. “We can all do good, eat good and feel good during this first-of-its-kind Queens donate and dine program in March.”

People can enroll by donating $25 or more to enjoy unlimited use of the ‘Eats in Queens’ discount starting March 1. 

The lineup encompasses the diversity of the borough, from the fiery Caribbean Chinese fare of The Nest in Richmond Hill to pub grub from the historic Neir’s Tavern in Woodhaven to Isaan Thai powerhouse Zaab Zaab in Elmhurst, and West African eatery Nneji in Astoria.

Alleged squatter indicted for illegally occupying Howard Beach home: DA

A Hollis woman was indicted by a Queens grand jury on charges of burglary, criminal trespass and other related crimes for illegally occupying a single-family home in Howard Beach.

Laurel Bay, 49, of 198th Street, was arraigned Thursday in Queens Supreme Court on a five-count indictment for allegedly squatting in a house on 99th Street that had been vacant since 2012, with the homeowner managing the property from out of state.

E train rider beaten with a skateboard during attempted robbery, suspect remains at large a month later: NYPD

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a suspect who weaponized a skateboard to bludgeon an E train rider last month.

The attack went down during the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 16, as the 36-year-old victim was sitting on a southbound E approaching the Forest Hills–71st Avenue station at around 3 a.m. when a stranger approached. The intruder attempted to remove property from the victim’s pocket. The targeted rider began to record the older man with his cell phone. The stranger grabbed a skateboard from another rider and smashed the victim in his head, police said Tuesday.
