Instead of schlepping to the city and plunking down a small fortune, you can experience the excitement of Broadway in Breezy Point.
Tickets are now available for the Rockaway Theatre Company’s spectacular production of “God of Carnage,” a timely, comedic tale of anarchy that you can really sink your teeth into. Performances run from Sept. 8 to Sept. 24 at The Post Theatre.

Described as a “savagely funny comedy of manners without the manners,” Yasmina Reza‘s “God of Carnage” won several Tony awards when it debuted on Broadway in 2009.
A playground altercation between 11-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. But the diplomatic niceties of “civilized society” begin to fray as the meeting progresses and the rum starts to flow.
“This piece of dark comedy feels even more timely, given how much our society’s ability to have civilized disagreement continues to degrade. Plus, there’s just something hilariously cathartic in watching terrible, privileged and highly judgmental people revert to an infantile state and really let their masks of civility go by the wayside,” actor Thom Harmon told QNS.
Harmon plays Alan, a self-important, high-profile corporate lawyer, who regularly prioritizes his clients over his family.
“But in many ways, he’s the most authentic character in the show, as he has no illusions about his nature and generally isn’t afraid to call things exactly as he sees them, no matter how uncouth those observations might be,” Harmon said.
Directed by Frank Caiati, produced by Susan Jasper and stage managed by Adele Wendt, the cast also features Patricia Damon, Jim Katen and Cassaundra Reed.
“There’s a reason why this show ran for so long on Broadway, attracting so much A-List talent,” Harmon added. “These characters are a thrill to play and their journey into cartoonish madness is an actor’s dream!”
Founded in 1997, Rockaway Theatre Company (RTC) provides low cost, high-quality theatrical productions for the public and a chance to experience live theater for many people who would otherwise not have this opportunity.
Tickets are available for 8 p.m. showings on Sept. 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23. There are also 2 p.m. shows on Sept. 10, 17 and 24.
Shows will be performed at The Post Theatre, Building T-4, Fort Tilden, in Breezy Point.
