From legendary musical and stage performances to fun and relaxing outings, there’s a lot to enjoy this weekend across Queens. Here are some notable things to do in Queens this weekend.

Friday, Sept. 15

Queensboro Dance Festival Season Finale Night 1

The first night of the season finale of the Queensboro Dance Festival at Queens Theatre will feature several performances by many different dance companies. Among those scheduled to perform are Mala’s Odissi, SarAika Movement Collective, Ayazamana Dance Group, Barbara Mahler’s dances, Cole Collective, Gotham Dance Theater, San Simon Sucre NY, Sheep Meadow Dance Theatre and Theo Yang Qu. (Flushing Meadows Corona Park Queens Theatre, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, 14 United Nations Ave. S., Flushing. 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Admission: $27).

John Finch

Musician John Finch will be performing at St. Mary’s Winfield. Finch has emerged as an up-and-coming artist and songwriter in the modern Catholic worship movement. (St. Mary’s Winfield, 70-31 48th Ave., Woodside. 7 p.m. Admission: Free).

Saturday, Sept. 16

Celebrating 50 Years of Hip-Hop with Lost Boyz

Queens Live! will conclude Saturday with a performance by the Lost Boyz in celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. The group of South Jamaica natives were significant players in the golden era of East Coast hip-hop, scoring several hits around the time of their 1996 debut. (Rockaway Beach Amphitheater, Shore Front Pkwy. at Beach 94th St., Rockaway Beach. 4 to 8 p.m. Admission: Free).

2023 Summer Picnic with Family and Friends

Build Out Alliance will be celebrating the end of summer with a picnic at Gantry Plaza State Park. Come enjoy the food, drinks, games and music. (Gantry Plaza State Park, 4-44 47th Rd., Long Island City. 3-6:00 p.m. Admission: Free).

Sunday, Sept. 17

Outlaw Music Festival Featuring Willie Nelson and Family

Legendary musician Willie Nelson will be headlining this festival at Forest Hills Stadium. Others scheduled to perform include Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros., The String Cheese Incident, Los Lobos and Particle Kid. (Forest Hills Stadium, 1 Tennis Pl., Forest Hills. 4 to 8 p.m. Admission: Prices vary).

Broadway comes to Flushing as Mary’s Nativity Church presents “Finding God on Broadway,” presented by singer/actress Tracylynn Conner and her band. Featuring songs from Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, West Side Story and more. (Mary’s Nativity Church, 46-02 Parsons Blvd., Flushing. 4 p.m. Admission: Free).

Alleged squatter indicted for illegally occupying Howard Beach home: DA

A Hollis woman was indicted by a Queens grand jury on charges of burglary, criminal trespass and other related crimes for illegally occupying a single-family home in Howard Beach.

Laurel Bay, 49, of 198th Street, was arraigned Thursday in Queens Supreme Court on a five-count indictment for allegedly squatting in a house on 99th Street that had been vacant since 2012, with the homeowner managing the property from out of state.

E train rider beaten with a skateboard during attempted robbery, suspect remains at large a month later: NYPD

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a suspect who weaponized a skateboard to bludgeon an E train rider last month.

The attack went down during the early morning hours of Monday, Sept. 16, as the 36-year-old victim was sitting on a southbound E approaching the Forest Hills–71st Avenue station at around 3 a.m. when a stranger approached. The intruder attempted to remove property from the victim’s pocket. The targeted rider began to record the older man with his cell phone. The stranger grabbed a skateboard from another rider and smashed the victim in his head, police said Tuesday.
