Street repairs in the neighborhoods of Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, and Ridgewood have already begun this month for day and night time operating hours, according to Queens Community Board 5 (CB5).
CB 5 first shared the Department of Transportation’s notification of day and night resurfacing in the district with QNS and the community board was recently able to share the exact dates for when milling will take place in the district.
According to the DOT, milling allows the paving process to begin by removing the top layer of asphalt from a roadway. Residents should expect the most noisy conditions on the affected roads and neighborhoods temporarily.
To take a closer look at the streets being milled during the day, refer to the created Google map showing the streets that will undergo milling work.
On Monday, Sept. 18, Juniper Boulevard North, between 63rd Avenue and Lutheran Avenue in Middle Village and 69th Street from Otto Road to Cooper Avenue in Glendale were milled.
On Tuesday, Sept. 19, work on the milled roads from Monday were continued, and work commenced at 73rd Street between Central Avenue and Myrtle Avenue in Glendale.
On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Union Turnpike between Woodhaven Boulevard and Forest Park Drive, 86th Street and Myrtle Avenue in Glendale and 74th Street between Cooper Avenue and Myrtle Avenue in Glendale were milled. Continued milling took place at 73rd Street between Central Avenue and Myrtle Avenue in Glendale.
On Thursday, Sept. 21, Cooper Avenue, between Valentine Place and 78th Street, 79th Place and Long Island Railroad, 78th Street and 71st Avenue, 74th Street and the Long Island Railroad bike path, between 74th Street and the Long Island Rail Road in Middle Village and Glendale were milled. Union Turnpike between Woodhaven Boulevard and Forest Park Drive, from 86th Street and Myrtle Avenue also continued milling.
For Friday, Sept. 22, milling will continue on the streets listed for Thursday. There is no scheduled milling for Saturday, Sept. 23.
