Sep. 29, 2023 By Bill Parry

A teenager was stabbed in broad daylight in Far Rockaway on Sept. 11 — and authorities say his attacker remains at large.

Police from the 101st Precinct in Far Rockaway report that the assault occurred just before 4 p.m., when the 17-year-old boy got into an argument with a stranger at the intersection of Mott Avenue and Central Avenue that escalated into violence when his assailant suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the leg. The assailant ran away from the crime scene in an unknown direction, police said.

The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect on Friday, Sept. 29.

The suspect is believed to be approximately 15 to 20 years old with a medium complexion, slim build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved sweatshirt, black “Champion” sweatpants and black sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stopper’s Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

The 101st Precinct has reported 191 felony assaults so far in 2023, 11 more cases than the 180 felony assaults that occurred at the same point last year, an increase of 6.1%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
