Oct. 17, 2023 By Bill Parry

A man was beaten and robbed by two strangers as he tried to withdraw cash from a Cambria Heights ATM last month and the assailants remain at large, according to the NYPD.

Police from the 105th Precinct reported that the 41-year-old victim was inside a convenience store in the vicinity of Linden Boulevard and 224th Street during the early morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 14, when the two unidentified men approached him and forcibly removed cash from his pockets, punched him and coerced him into multiple attempts at withdrawing money using the victim’s ATM card.

The two men ran out of the store with an undetermined amount of cash, and drove off in a dark-colored sedan in an unknown direction, police said.

The victim sustained minor injuries and went to Long Island Jewish Medical Center by private means, according to authorities.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspects on Oct. 16 and said they each have “medium” complexions. One suspect wore eyeglasses, a white cap, greenish cargo shorts, a white T-shirt and white sneakers. The other suspect wore a white T-shirt with multiple graphics, powder blue shorts and yellow flip flops.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to their arrests.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.

Through Oct. 15, the 105th Precinct has reported 132 robberies so far in 2023, 18 fewer than the 150 reported at the same point last year, a decrease of 12%, according to the latest CompStat report.
