Police from two Queens police precincts are looking for two moped-riding crooks who snatched necklaces from two women on the same afternoon last month.
The 104th Precinct in Ridgewood reported the first of two grand larceny that occurred at around 4:20 p.m.on Thursday, Sept. 14. Police say two men riding a black moped approached a 41-year-old woman from behind as she was walking in front of a print shop located at 61-50 Central Ave. in Ridgewood. The crooks grabbed her necklace and ripped it off her neck causing substantial pain and bruising, police said, adding that the victim refused medical attention at the crime scene. The value of her pendant was approximately $200.
Just over two hours later, the crooks stuck again in the confines of the 102nd Precinct when they rode up alongside a car in front of a home located at 91-38 114th St. in Richmond Hill just before 7 p.m., according to authorities.
Police say a 20-year-old woman was sitting in the driver side of the vehicle when the passenger hopped off the black moped, reached inside the woman’s vehicle and ripped two necklaces off her neck before running back to the moped and jumping on as the operator drove it away from the crime scene in an unknown direction, according to an NYPD spokeswoman. The victim refused medical attention. The value of her two yellow metal pendants was around $520, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance video and images of the two crooks on Oct. 23.
They are believed to be between the ages of 20 and 25 and have slim builds, police said. They were last seen wearing all black clothing.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to their arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
Through Oct. 22, the 104th Precinct has reported 561 grand larcenies so far in 2023, 29 more than the 532 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 5.5%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
Through Oct. 22, the 102nd Precinct has reported 264 grand larcenies so far in 2023, 42 fewer than the 306 reported at the same point last year, a decrease of 13.7%, according to CompStat.
