Salvation Army Jamaica Citadel Corps donates 350 turkeys during annual giveaway

The Salvation Army Jamaica Citadel Corp hosted its annual turkey distribution events on Thursday, Nov. 16 and Tuesday, Nov. 22, in Jamaica.

Approximately 350 turkeys and side dishes were donated to local neighbors during the events, which were hosted at the Salvation Army’s its food distribution center, located at 9023 161st St. in Jamaica.

According to the Salvation Army Jamaica Citadel Corp, Thanksgiving can be a difficult time for many New Yorkers facing financial challenges and the turkey distribution events provide much-needed support for these individuals and their families.

Those in need formed a line that stretched down the street to pick up their meals. For many of them, they may not have had a holiday meal if not for this generous meal giveaway.

An integral part of the community for over 140 years, the Salvation Army Greater New York Division operates more than 100 community and social-service programs across New York State, serving over 1 million people a year, regardless of race, religion, nationality or sexual orientation.

Long Island woman convicted in Queens deed theft ring targeting elderly homeowners: AG

A Long Island woman was convicted by a jury in Queens Supreme Court on a slew of charges for her role in a notorious deed theft crew that targeted homes owned by vulnerable seniors in Southeast Queens, Attorney General Letitia James announced on Friday. Stacie Saunders, a former mortgage bank branch manager from Central Islip in Suffolk County, was found guilty on all charges following a two-week trial on Thursday, May 8.

The licensed real estate saleswoman is the fifth and final defendant to be convicted in the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) investigation into the deed theft ring led by fellow Long Islander Marcus Wilcher, of Bay Shore, for stealing three homes in Jamaica and St. Albans.
