A driver was killed in the early hours Tuesday morning after he failed to stop at a stop sign in Jackson Heights and collided with another vehicle.
The driver, a 31-year-old man, was killed after he crashed his white 2017 BMW into another vehicle at around 12:24 a.m. at the intersection of 35th Avenue and 95th Street. Two other people were injured.
A preliminary police investigation found that the man was traveling northbound on 95th Street and was struck by a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he failed to stop while making a left turn onto 35th Avenue.
The Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound on 35th Avenue. Upon impact, the BMW spun and struck several parked vehicles, police said. The Jeep also hit a parked vehicle before coming to a stop.
Arriving NYPD officers found the 31-year-old unconscious and unresponsive inside the vehicle. He was transferred by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was later pronounced dead.
A 27-year-old female passenger, who was sitting in the backseat of the BMW, was transferred to the same hospital and is listed as being in stable condition.
The driver of the Jeep, a 30-year-old man, was also transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst and is in a stable condition.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and the identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
