Planet Fitness to open in Corona next month

Planet Fitness, a chain of fitness centers known for its ‘Judgement Free Zone®’ philosophy, is set to open its newest facility in Corona at the end of June.

The new facility, located at 97-01 Northern Blvd, is currently offering introductory memberships for as little as $1 down with no monthly commitment.

The 13,500-square-foot club is set to bolster the local economy by creating 10-12 job opportunities.

The gym will feature state-of-the-art cardio machines, strength equipment, a 30-Minute Express Circuit, and a Black Card Spa® complete with HydroMassage loungers and Total Body Enhancement red-light technology.

The Planet Fitness Black Card® membership includes perks such as bringing a guest every day at no additional charge and access to over 2,500 Planet Fitness locations nationwide.

Operating hours for the new club are Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and weekends from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

James Innocenti, Chief Operating Officer of Supreme Fitness, a Planet Fitness franchise, expressed enthusiasm about the new location. “We are excited to bring a safe, affordable, and judgment-free fitness option to Corona, Queens,” said Innocenti. “We invite residents in the Corona area to check out this great pre-sale deal and visit our new state-of-the-art club.”

Rego Park sex offender pleads guilty to charges of sexually exploiting young girls on Long Island: Feds

A convicted sex offender from Rego Park pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child and admitted to soliciting and receiving sexually explicit images and videos from four young girls during a plea hearing in the federal courthouse in Central Islip on Friday. Anthony Pangallo, 41, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years’ imprisonment and up to 50 years in prison.

According to court filings and statements during the plea proceeding, Pangallo was initially arrested on May 20, 2021, at his Rego Park residence, on state charges filed in Westport, Connecticut. Those charges, which remain pending, involved a 15-year-old victim whom Pangallo met online and manipulated into sending him sexually explicit images of herself.

AG’s office launches investigation into death of man run over by police officer in Flushing Meadows Corona Park

The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigations (OSI) has launched a probe into the death of a civilian on Saturday, Aug. 23, following a motor vehicle collision involving NYPD officers in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

At approximately 4:37 p.m., an NYPD officer from the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst was driving westbound in a marked police cruiser, a 2015 Ford Taurus, at around 10 miles per hour in front of the Queens Theater on United Nations Avenue South, across from the Unisphere, when the vehicle ran over a man who was allegedly lying face up on the roadway prior to the collision, police said.
