Police from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights are looking for a woman who allegedly robbed a man at knifepoint on Roosevelt Avenue last month.
The 39-year-old victim was walking in the vicinity of 87th Street and Roosevelt Avenue just after 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, when a stranger approached him and gave him a hug. While she held him in an embrace, she reached into his pants pocket and removed $850 in cash, police said. When the victim tried to snatch his money back, the woman pulled out a knife and threatened to stab him before running off, traveling westbound on Roosevelt Avenue toward 86th Street. The victim was not injured during the robbery.
The NYPD released surveillance video that shows the suspect as she walked along Roosevelt Avenue and described her as having a medium complexion with long brown hair. She wore a blue long-sleeved mini-dress, a black knit cap with a white decal on the front, black and white sneakers and she had a black purse hanging from her shoulder.

Through Aug. 4, the 115th Precinct has reported 262 robberies so far in 2024, 74 more than the 188 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 39.4%, according to the latest CompStat report.
