Southeast Queens families can celebrate the arrival of autumn on two days at two locations. Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers will host her annual Fall Festival at Bayswater Park in Far Rockaway on Monday, Oct. 9 at Springfield Park on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Springfield Gardens.

“Fall is a beautiful time of year in southeast Queens,” Brooks-Powers said. “I am so excited to bring together community members to enjoy the turning leaves and the blessings the new season brings. I thank the Parks Department and Key Food for their partnership in bringing this celebration to Far Rockaway and Springfield Gardens.”

The festival will feature live music, food and drinks and games for New Yorkers of all ages and culminate in a distribution of pumpkins to community members. Both events will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We thank Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers for her partnership and continued support of Queens Parks – it is wonderful to be working together with the Council Member on her annual Fall Festival,” said NYC Parks Queens Borough Commissioner Jackie Langsam. “Cooler temperatures combined with the spectacular foliage of Southeast Queens will help the entire community get into the spirit of the season. This is an incredible time of year to be in Queens Parks and this event is a great opportunity to experience all the highlights that make fall in Southeast Queens special.”
Bayswater Park is located along Jamaica Bay on Seagirt Boulevard between Beach 38th Street and Bay 32nd Street.
“The Fall Festival is a wonderful event for all ages,” said Jackie Rogers, President of Edgemere Alliance. “It’s a chance for community members and their families to get outdoors, enjoy the crisp autumn air, and view the colorful foliage in their local community parks. The Festival is truly a nice event, full of family-friendly activities.”
Springfield Park is located on Springfield Boulevard between 145th Road and 147th Avenue.
“On behalf of the Volunteers for Springfield Park, Inc., we want to thank our Councilwoman Selvena Brooks-Powers for the hard work she has been doing for the community of Springfield Gardens,” said Fay D. Hill, executive director of volunteers for Springfield Park. “Our park is now somewhere the community can enjoy and we see an improvement in the quality of life. Our new BBQ area and the additional basketball court.
