The Glendale Kiwanis will be hosting a charity basketball game between the FDNY and NYPD in Maspeth in April to give back to first responders in the community.

On Saturday, April 28, firefighters from the FDNY Engine 285 Ladder 135 and police from the 104th Precinct will clash at the Martin Luther School in Maspeth.

Glendale Kiwanis President Bruce Kramer said the game represents a “major emphasis” for the organization’s community service efforts.

Kramer told QNS that proceeds from the game will be donated to both the 104th Precinct and the FDNY.

He added that the match is the first charity basketball game hosted by Glendale Kiwanis since 1995.

“The FDNY has their own basketball team, so they were very interested in it,” Kramer said, “and the community affairs person for the 104 is very involved in getting the police guys together. It should be a fun game.”

Kramer said the charity basketball game is one of the many ways the Glendale Kiwanis hopes to make an impact in the community.

“We’re just hoping to have a good turnout when the day comes,” Kramer said.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. on April 28, with the game scheduled to begin at 6. Tickets will be available for $10 and during the game, there will be a raffle in which attendees can participate in to win prizes.

The Martin Luther School is located at 60-02 Maspeth Ave. in Maspeth.
