Jamaica resident Tyrone “Angel” Miles was sentenced on March 17 to seven years in prison for sex trafficking teenage girls at a hotel near JFK Airport in 2020, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.
Miles, 32, of 110th Avenue, and his co-defendant Bryant Lowery, forced young women to have sex with strangers for cash at the JFK Inn on South Conduit Avenue in Jamaica, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. Miles pleaded guilty in October to two counts of sex trafficking of a child before Queens Supreme Court Justice Peter Vallone, Jr.
According to court records, Miles and Lowery held two victims, ages 16 and 17, at the JFK Inn between June 5, 2020, and June 12, 2020. The defendants threatened them with physical harm unless they participated in sexual acts in exchange for money. Miles threatened to kill the
16-year-old if she did not comply and instructed her to tell customers she was an adult. The defendants kept the girls in separate rooms at the motel to meet customers paying for sex. Miles and Lowery monitored the victims in the motel room to prevent the victims from leaving and collected all the money. The 16-year-old girl was able to escape when Miles briefly left her alone. She fled to a commercial establishment and contacted her family.
“The defendant tormented and degraded his victims. I commend these young ladies for their bravery during the course of this case,” Katz said. “The brutal exploitation they were subjected to, and that countless others are experiencing, is why the work of my Human Trafficking Bureau is so important.”
Justice Vallone imposed a determinate sentence of seven years in prison to be followed by 5 years post-release supervision. Co-defendant Lowery pleaded guilty in October to one count of sex trafficking of a child and one count of sex trafficking and was sentenced in November to six years in prison to be followed by five years of post-release supervision. Both Miles and Lowery will also be required to register as sex offenders upon their release.
