Police searching for suspect who broke into 93-year-old man’s Whitestone home

Police are searching for the suspect who broke into an elderly man’s home in Whitestone earlier this month.

A 93-year-old man reported to the 109th Precinct that when he returned to his residence approximately an hour after leaving it on the morning of July 5, he discovered a broken glass door.

Police suspect an unknown individual had entered the residence, located near 149th Street and 16th Road in Whitestone, but did not steal anything. According to police, the suspect attempted to enter the upstairs residence of the two-family home by trying to pry the door open; however, when the suspect discovered that a resident was home, he fled out of the rear entrance to parts unknown.

Police could not provide a description of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
