Queens Community Board Five (CB 5) welcomed several new members to its board Wednesday night, April 12, during its monthly meeting held at Christ the King High School in Middle Village.

The new members include Carol Benovic-Bradley, of Ridgewood; Michael Byc, of Middle Village; Maritza Carmona, of Glendale; Ethan Chan, of Middle Village; Deepak Chaudhari, of Ridgewood; Salvatore Crifasi, of Middle Village; Daniel DeBrucker, of Glendale; Dorie Figliola, of Glendale; Lily Scarabino, of Middle Village; and Brandon Zwagerman of Ridgewood.

Each new member was appointed by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards following the advocacy of the community council members.

Each member also got the chance to pick which committee they wanted to be a part of toward the end of the meeting.

CB 5 District Manager Gary Giordano said he hopes the new members will continue to carry out the legacy of the board and to enrich the lives of those who the board serves.

“I’m hopeful we got some outstanding members,” Giordano said. “They seem interested in doing some good in the community.”

CB 5 serves the neighborhoods of Ridgewood, Maspeth, Middle Village and Glendale.
