Queens lawmakers’ affordable housing legislation signed into law

Oct. 27, 2023 By Ethan Marshall Gov. Kathy Hochul signed into a law a legislation authorizing a tax abatement program to provide improvements to affordable housing on Monday, Oct. 23. The legislation was sponsored by Queens state Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky and Assemblymember Edward Braunstein. This legislation is meant to improve upon the J-51 Tax Abatement Program, which provided a property tax discount for co-ops and condos that needed to make certain capital improvements, while also helping to offset costs. Ridgewood drivers beware: ABLE cameras activated along B26 bus route

Sep. 22, 2023 By Anthony Medina New York Governor Kathy Hochul, on Thursday, Sept. 21, announced the activation of more Automated Bus Lane Enforcement (ABLE) cameras on the B26 bus route serving riders in Brooklyn and Queens. The B26 bus route travels to Ridgewood Terminal along Halsey Street in Ridgewood and Tillary Street and Cadman Plaza West in Brooklyn. The venue will continue the Women’s History Month celebration with a piano and quartet performance called The Stories of Unsung Heroines: Herstory Untold on Saturday, March 29, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The evening features a quartet of female musicians who will perform a variety of pieces created by female composers worldwide, including the works of Florence Price, Amy Beach, Rebecca Clarke, Vitezslava Kapralova, and many more.
