State Senator James Sanders is hosting his annual Women’s History Month gala dinner at the Rochdale Village Ballroom on Friday, March 17.
The event will honor women in education who are working to improve their communities in southeast Queens over the years.
Sanders has been accepting nominations from his constituents for teachers, principals, paraprofessionals, education advocates or superintendents that will be honored for their achievements. Nominations were accepted for candidates who live in his 10th Senate District or worked in the district for at least five years and are currently working in the education field.
As a married father of two, Sanders saw first-hand how economic advancement depended upon the quality of education within the community.
“Women in education shape the minds of future leaders by filling them with creativity and knowledge, so it is only fitting that we honor them during Women’s History Month,” Sanders said. “Women are an important part of our history and of our lives. They are often the backbone of the family unit and globally provide strength in times of peril.”
