Cause of teen death in Whitestone home under investigation

Mar. 21, 2024 By Iryna Shkurhan Whitestone teenager Vasilios Golias was found dead in his Whitestone home on Wednesday morning.  Police officers responded to a 911 call at 8:30 a.m. regarding an unconscious teen. The responding officers and EMS found the 17-year-old not breathing and unresponsive upon arrival.  Officials declared him dead on the scene and began carrying out an investigation into the cause of his death, which is currently underway.  Council Member Vickie Paladino, who represents the area, shared additional information about the incident on her official X account. Addabbo Jr, has co-sponsored two pieces of legislation to help give people living with bleeding disorders easier access to healthcare and enforce additional accountability from insurance companies. Bleeding disorders prevent the blood cells in a person’s body from clotting, causing a series of issues that include heavy bleeding from a small cut, easy bruising, and life-threatening complications, according to the American Society of Hematology. The Maspeth Jewish Center, located at 66-64 Grand Ave., which began operating as a 15-bed temporary housing facility for migrant men earlier this month, sparked controversy among some residents both in-person and through social media. The neighborhoods included South Astoria, Maspeth, Old Astoria, Long Island City and Kew Gardens Hills. Kennedy International Airport last year, held a safety pledge commitment event earlier this month.
