Sep. 12, 2023 By Anthony Medina The 9/11 Vigil Committee of Queens candlelight vigil in Middle Village was canceled for the first time in its history due to a thunderstorm, but local residents in the Maspeth, Middle Village, Glendale and Ridgewood neighborhoods still made the effort to come down to the memorial site. CB 5 shared the Department of Transportation’s notification of day and night resurfacing in the district, with milling and paving during the night expected to begin as early as Monday, Sept. 11, and day work starting sometime around Thursday, Sept. 14. Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting in front of a residential home in the vicinity of Cypress Avenue and 78th Avenue at approximately 3:40 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 3, and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the right leg. He then stole $2,000 from the cash register and fled the scene on foot.
