New 696-seat elementary school approved for CM Ung’s Flushing district

Dec. 21, 2023 By Ethan Marshall The New York City Council voted to approve a new 696-seat elementary school in Flushing Wednesday, within the confines of Council Member Sandra Ung’s district. The school, which will feature 36 classrooms and two special education rooms, will be built on a 70,000 square foot vacant lot at 137-31 45th St. It will feature a 29,800 square foot play yard on the northern portion of the site. Oct. 2, 2023 By Iryna Shkurhan Pre-construction work began on the future site of P.S. 388 in Bay Terrace, which has continued to draw divided opinions from local residents since it was proposed in 2021.  The currently vacant lot on Waters Edge Drive and 24th Street is surrounded by apartment buildings and is adjacent to the waterfront Cross Island Parkway. Six Queens schools receive National Blue Ribbon recognition

Sep. 21, 2023 By Iryna Shkurhan The United States Department of Education featured six schools across Queens in their annual Blue Ribbon Schools Program designation report that was released on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Across the nation, 353 schools were recognized as a Blue Ribbon school this year based on academic metrics such as performance and progress made to close achievement gaps on assessments.
