Police from the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica are on the lookout for a teenage bully who allegedly robbed a couple of youngsters in the neighborhood last month.
The first mugging occurred on the morning of Friday, Feb. 17, at South Road and Sutphin Boulevard. A 12-year-old boy was walking near the intersection when he was approached by the suspect, who asked to use his cellphone. The suspect then displayed an unknown object which appeared to be a firearm and demanded the youngster’s phone, police said. The victim complied and handed over his phone as the mugger took off northbound on Sutphin Boulevard. The boy was not injured.
Three days earlier, the perpetrator approached a 13-year-old boy at 146th Street and 101st Avenue and asked him for money and his sweatshirt. The suspect simulated that he had a handgun in his sweatshirt and threatened to shoot the victim, police said. The suspect fled eastbound on Liberty Avenue with the victim’s sweatshirt and $14 in cash. The youngster was not injured.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspected mugger and described him as having a medium complexion and approximately 15 or 16 years old. In one photo he was wearing a black hooded winter jacket, a blue face mask, black pants, white sneakers and a black backpack. In the second image, the suspect was seen wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, white sneakers, a blue face mask and a black backpack.
