Woman injured as trio of thieves stole her car in Ridgewood: NYPD

Jun. 29, 2023 By Anthony Medina

Police from the 104th Precinct are searching for a trio of car thieves who drove off with a woman’s vehicle in Ridgewood as she desperately tried to hang on earlier this week.

Police say a 51-year-old woman left her 2021 Honda SUV running while parked at the intersection of Fresh Pond Road and 67th Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Monday, June 26.

The three thieves allegedly stalked the woman as she returned to her car and were able to open the car’s locked doors due to the key fob’s close proximity to the vehicle, police said. The woman was dragged on the pavement while trying to hold onto her car as the crooks drove off. She was still in possession of her car keys during the incident.

EMS responded to the scene and treated the woman for lacerations to her left hand and leg, according to authorities.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, on Twitter @NYPDTips.
