11-Year-Old Boy in Critical Condition After Being Struck by Driver in South Ozone Park

An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing an intersection in South Ozone Park Thursday afternoon, according to police.

The boy was hit at the intersection of Lefferts Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard by a 68-year-old driver at around 2:30 p.m. The 11-year-old was crossing northbound on Lefferts Boulevard when he was struck by the driver who was going eastbound on Rockaway Boulevard.

EMS responded and transported the boy to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver, Essa Nasser, of South Ozone Park, was taken into police custody and charged with leaving the scene of the crash and for not having a license.

The investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
