22-Year-Old Dead After Crashing Motorcycle on Van Wyck Expressway: NYPD

A 22-year-old man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on the Van Wyck Expressway early Tuesday.

The man was riding a 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on the expressway near Exit 1- Belt Parkway, when he lost control of the bike at around 2:45 a.m., police said.

He struck a guard rail and was ejected from the bike onto the grassy shoulder of the expressway. Responding officers found him lying unconscious on the grass with severe body trauma.

He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, but couldn’t be saved.

Police have not released his identity, pending proper family notification.

A 75-year-old man was shot in the face, and a 14-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the leg when someone started shooting on a Rosedale street on Thursday afternoon.

The senior was riding his bicycle on 243rd Street near Weller Avenue at around 4:30 p.m., and he was struck in the jaw while the girl was standing nearby and was struck in her thigh. Police from the 105th Precinct in Queens Village responded to 911 calls of shots fired at the location and took three teens into custody.
