Three people, including a toddler, were injured in Ridgewood Wednesday after a driver fleeing police struck them with his SUV.
The victims — a two-year-old girl, her 28-year-old mother, and a 35-year-old man — were hit by the driver of a 2021 Dodge Durango around 5 p.m. in the vicinity of Wyckoff Avenue and George Street, according to police.
The incident took place as the driver, a man who has yet to be identified, was evading arrest for having a suspended license. The driver had been pulled over by police and standing next to the SUV when he jumped back into the vehicle and sped off, police said.
He then struck the 28-year-old woman who was pushing the toddler in a stroller and a 35-year-old man who was unloading a truck, according to police.
The driver then fled the scene while the cops attended to the victims.
The woman suffered a knee injury while her daughter had bruised knees and wrists. They were both transferred to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old man was transported by EMS to Wyckoff Hospital with a compound leg fracture.
The Durango was discovered abandoned 40 minutes later in Bushwick, Brooklyn, police said.
Police say the driver was initially pulled over as the SUV had a loud exhaust. The cops then realized he was driving with a suspended license and attempted to arrest him before he fled.
He remains at large.
