A 75-year-old woman was left with head injuries after being randomly attacked in broad daylight on a Forest Hills street Wednesday.
The senior was in front of Hair Cutters, located at 116-23 Queens Blvd., at around 1:30 p.m. when a man approached her and tackled her to the concrete pavement, according to police. The suspect then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
The senior was transported by EMS in stable condition to North Shore University Hospital where she was treated for head injuries. Police said she had “bleeding on the brain” as well as facial and neck injuries.
The suspect did not say anything to the woman before the alleged incident, according to police. He also did not take any of her possessions.
The NYPD is investigating to see whether it is a possible hate crime, since the victim is of Asian descent. The attack is currently not being treated as a hate crime at this point, police said.
Police released a video of the suspect taken from near the incident. He is Black and can be seen wearing a dark green-colored coat over a gray hoody with sunglasses.
