A 33-year-old man was fatally shot near the Queensbridge Houses NYCHA complex when he was ambushed by two men just after midnight Monday.

Kayron Wilson was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car alongside a female companion, when two men approached the vehicle on the corner of 12th Street and 40th Avenue and fired multiple shots at him, police said.

The female companion, who was seated behind the wheel, sped off and flagged down officers from the 114th Precinct who were at Vernon Boulevard and 41st Avenue.

Wilson, who lived in Queensbridge, was shot in the chest and was unconscious when police arrived. EMS rushed him to Cornell Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The woman was unharmed.

The gunmen, described as two Black men, were on foot and ran off in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
