Pedestrian Struck Dead While Crossing the Grand Central Parkway Near Roosevelt Avenue

A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the Grand Central Parkway near Roosevelt Avenue late Friday night, police said.

The victim was hit while crossing the highway—in the vicinity of Citi Field–at approximately 11:45 p.m. by a driver of a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta who was in a westbound lane. The driver, a 20-year-old man, remained at the scene and was uninjured.

The victim was found by emergency responders unconscious and unresponsive lying in the roadway with severe body trauma. He was transported to New York-Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There have no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
