An alleged hit-and-run driver has been arrested for fatally striking a 16-year-old cyclist in College Point last year.

Christian Soriano, 27, was arrested Wednesday for manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and leaving the scene of a crash after he allegedly hit Darwin Durazno with his car on June 4.

Soriano, who is from 54th Avenue in Corona, was driving a 2019 Toyota Camry northbound on College Point Boulevard and crossed the double yellow lines to try to overtake another car, police said.

The vehicle struck Durazno, who was bicycling southbound on College Point Boulevard, head-on at around 9:30 p.m., police said.

The teenager, also from Corona, was knocked off his bike onto the roadway and suffered severe head trauma. He died from his injuries three days later.

Soriano is alleged to have sped off without stopping and turned right onto 15th Avenue before abandoning the car, police said.

Officers later recovered the vehicle — a rental car from Enterprise according to the New York Daily News — in front of 120-0715th Ave.

Soriano was also charged with assault, reckless driving, driving without a license and illegally crossing road hazard markings.

Darwin was cycling to a barbershop before he was struck, according to the New York Daily News.

He had moved to the U.S. from Ecuador three years prior and worked a part-time job at an auto-body shop where he detailed and washed cars, the publication reported.
