Glendale Kiwanis’ annual Myrtle Avenue Street Fair brings summer fun to community

Jul. 24, 2023 By Anthony Medina

The Kiwanis Club of Glendale brought fun and entertainment as part of its annual summer street fair along Myrtle Avenue between Fresh Pond Road and Forest Avenue on Sunday, July 23. Fair-goers had the choice to partake in everything from food, drinks and amusement rides for children to enjoy.

The greater Myrtle Avenue community took advantage of a beach-like weather forecast to partake in festivities only steps away from their doors. More than 40 vendors participated in this year’s street fair and provided these services from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Glendale Kiwanis celebrates 70 years of serving the community and continuing the annual fair helps expound on the group’s success.

Proceeds from the event benefit Glendale Kiwanis programs and initiatives throughout the year.

Ridgewood mother and daughter arrested for attacking woman over parking spot: NYPD

A Ridgewood mother and daughter were arrested Monday after they ambushed a young Black woman who tried to park her car in a spot in front of their apartment building that they frequently cordon off with garbage cans and traffic cones.

A family friend was standing at the northeast corner of Onderdonk Avenue and Putnam Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. when the 21-year-old Jada McPherson tried to park her car in the spot. The man placed a garbage can in her way. She drove off and circled the block multiple times. She tried to pull into the same spot one more time, but the man tried to stop her again. McPherson got out of her car to confront him, and an argument ensued.
