Annual Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Festival returns to Middle Village this month

Oct. 18, 2023 By Anthony Medina

A trunk-or-treat and Halloween festival event to remember is fast approaching in Middle Village.

Council Member Robert Holden, in collaboration with the New York City Parks Department, will host his annual truck-or-treat event and Halloween festival on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Juniper Valley Park for hundreds of children and families.

The morning festivities will begin with a costume parade starting at Little Park, located at the 74th Street Playground and Juniper Boulevard South, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Then, the parade will march down to the trunk-or-treat, where troves of costumed children will rush to get a hold of candy and other treats.

As part of the trunk-or-treat event, drivers will line the road on 80th Street, between Juniper Boulevard North and South, showcasing their Halloween-decorated trunks and preparing to hand out candy to the hundreds of participating children.

The park space will also be transformed into an all-Halloween and fall event space, where children and their families can partake in arts and crafts events, games, music and more while in costume.

If you are interested in registering your car for this event or need more information, RSVP by emailing Deputy Chief of Staff Alicia Vaichunas at AVaichunas@council.nyc.gov or by calling 718-366-3900.

The council member’s office is also actively accepting candy donations to help fulfill the ever-growing demand. Only wrapped candy will be accepted, no loose candy without a wrapper. With each passing year the need for more candy only grows.

Holden’s office is also collaborating with the East Coast Car Association for this year’s event. Holden represents the neighborhoods of Glendale, Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Woodhaven and Woodside in the City Council.
