Police are searching for the two crooks who broke into a Rosedale resident’s home before attacking and robbing him and making off with more $90,000 worth of jewelry on Thursday, Oct. 19.

According to police from the 105th Precinct, at approximately 12:40 p.m., a 36-year-old male was in his home, located the vicinity of 243rd Street and 140th Avenue, when the two unknown individuals forcibly entered the premises. One of the crooks displayed a rifle and struck the victim multiple times, causing lacerations to the his head, police said. The second crook forcibly removed a safe that contained jewelry and an undetermined amount of cash from the bedroom.
After taking the safe, the crooks fled westbound on 140th Avenue in a white Jeep, police said. It is estimated that the value of the stolen jewelry within the safe was worth $90,000.
The victim was moved to Franklin Medical Center in Nassau County in stable condition to receive treatment for his injuries.
The first crook being sought is described as a male with dark complexion and heavy build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black sneakers.

The second crook was also described as a male with dark complexion and heavy build. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, black mask, black pants and black sneakers.

According to the NYPD’s Compstat report covering southern Queens from Sept. 17 to Oct. 15 in 2022 and 2023, the 105th Precinct has seen a year-over-year drop in robbery cases, from 17 last year to 10 this year. At the same time, there was a slight increase in felony assaults, from 26 last year to 3o this year.
