An Astoria woman who fatally shot her boyfriend and then set his body on fire was sentenced Wednesday to 24 years in prison.

Dawn McIntosh, 51, who pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in December, shot her boyfriend Shron McWhorter, 43, in the chest and torso sometime between 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 and Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, according to court documents.

The shooting took place in the rear of 27-25 12th St. in Astoria.

McIntosh, according to the District Attorney’s Office, disposed of the gun after the shooting and washed her clothes.

She then moved McWhorter’s body with the help of her two children to a nearby alley and then set his body on fire. Police were only able to identify McWhorter’s body because of a tattoo on his left arm.

McIntosh was sentenced to 24 years in prison and five years of post release supervision.
